I’m Not a Priest…I’m Definitely Not Clergy of Any Sort…

I hear it all the time:  “So you’re a Priest, right?” — “My friend is into that pagan stuff too.  She’s a High Priestess, so you’re a Priest, right?” — “Anyone studying ‘x’ Spiritual Path is studying to be a part of the clergy, so that will make you a Priest eventually, right?”

I’m not a Priest.  I have zero desire to become a clergy member.  I follow the Pagan Path I am on because it is the correct one for me.  It fits my understanding of the world around me.  Not perfectly though.  But close enough that I see this Path as viable.  For.  Me.  I don’t consider myself to be anything other than “me”.  I don’t even see myself as my own Priest or my own clergy member.  That’s not me at all.  I’m “me”.  Other folks may seek similar Paths to my own and consider themselves to be Priests or Clergy.  That’s THEIR Path, not mine.  They move along their Paths in their own way.  It works for them.  That doesn’t mean that I follow exactly the same Path.  There are similarities…but my Path is my own.  Druidry and Paganism serve as a framework that helps me define my Path for myself.  How someone else interprets those two particular areas will work differently for them…

In a way…it gets frustrating to continually explain that I am not a Priest nor do I have any desire to become one.  And sometimes, its just easier to nod and move along.  I’m starting to reach that nodding phase again….
